Gettin’ Signed: Relapse Records Info
July 28th, 2007 by MrsBarnesAbout a week ago or so I posted some info on how to send demos to Victory Records (if you missed that, you can read it right here: http://thedailyrock.com/2007/07/21/wanna-get-signed-to-victory-records/?)…
If you have more of a death metal or super heavy/crazy?sound, and can see your self on the same label as Nile or Dillinger Escape Plan then you may want to check out Relapse. On their myspace page, they answer the all too common question “Can I submit a Demo?”
“We get this question a lot.? While we’re always looking for new bands, Relapse Records almost never signs a band off a demo alone. It happens, but rarely. Do not call or write us to follow up, we do not have time to follow up on every demo we receive. If we are interested someone will contact you, and usually just for the purpose of letting you know we enjoyed it and are asking you to keep us up-to-date on your band’s actions and new recordings. It would be wise if you plan on submitting a demo to Relapse Records that you include as much information about your band as possible. How are we to know who you are if you send us a demo that has no information on it whatsoever? And yes, we have received demos like this, so make sure you include a band name and contact email address on the CD or CD packaging. Relapse does not listen to mp3 demos, will not visit your myspace page and will not view an e-press kit. Please submit music only, you can include video as well but unless it is pornographic in nature or bootleg DVDs of Twin Peaks Season 2 or Hockey’s Greatest Brawls we will probably not watch it.
You may submit any demo or promotional material for Relapse Records or Release Entertainment to:
Relapse Records
P.O. Box 2060

Seems the best move here is to lay your sounds over a video of Hockey ViOLeNcE@#$% and mail those DVDs of Twin Peaks Season 2 with it, yeah? You’d have it made.
